Orsay & the origins of Impressionism

Orsay museum by city I art insider

On this visit we explore how and why the Impressionist painters emerged onto the art scene in the late 1800s. It's a dramatic story of politics and personalities, and unfolds in front of works in the Musée d'Orsay, the Orangerie, Musée Marmottan, and as far afield as Monet's gardens at Giverny if you have the time.

If you have only a half-day for the Impressionists, we'll go directly to Musée d'Orsay. If you have a full day we'll add in Marmottan or the Orangerie, and if you have a day-and-a-half, why not take the train to Monet's house at Giverny with us?
